Sally Shelton Nooney is well known for her decorative painting on furniture, walls, and floor cloths. She has also established herself as a fine artist with her still life’s, landscapes, and animal paintings in oil, watercolor, and acrylic. Nooney recently won the “People’s Choice” award for her painting “Oops! Wrong Tree”. This and other works may be viewed at the Sally Nooney Gallery, Tuesday through Saturday, 10AM to 5PM, or by appointment. The studio, located in a quaint, stone building in the quiet, picturesque Matney community, is an inviting gathering place for creative spirits.
WORKSHOP INFORMATION Always teaching Color, Composition, and Contrast! Watercolor Workshops: Enjoy the magical aspects of allowing watercolor to do the work for you when applied loosely! You'll love the freedom and spontaneity of the various "experimental" techniques. Learn to mix beautiful, rich colors using just the primaries. Don't be afraid of the Dark! Learn the placement of darks to make your lights, brighter! Make the composition fit, the easy way. (18 or older, all levels from beginner to advanced.) Materials: 200 or 300 lb cold press in 1/4 sheets (11 x 15), assortment of brushes, spray bottle, paper towels, tape, backer board. Primary colors: Prussian Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Raw Umber. Oil Workshops: Feel the richness of oils! The easy way to make your composition fit your canvas. Learn the five tone values of nature. Contrast is your best friend. You can't have light if you don't have dark! Mix rich colors from the primaries. Learn the importance of stroke direction, stroke placement, and keeping the brush clean. (18 or older, all levels from beginner to advanced.) Materials: 16 x 20 primed canvas, assortment of brushes, shop towels, and disposable palette. Primary colors: Prussian Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Raw Umber, Titanium White or Permalba. Plus acrylic white and black for underpainting. Acrylic Workshops: You can make acrylics look like watercolor or oil. It is so versatile you can paint on almost any surface. Your materials are very similar to watercolor and clean up is easy!
